The City of Pittsburg reported that it was targeted by a phishing attack — a reminder for residents to stay cautious with any email, text, or call claiming to be from the City, especially anything asking for payment information or login credentials.

A few good habits:

• The City will never ask for your password over email or text.
• If you get a suspicious message about a water bill, permit, or fine, go directly to pittsburgca.gov rather than clicking a link in the message.
• When in doubt, call City Hall directly at (925) 252-6900 to confirm.
