Privacy Policy

MyPittsburgCA is a free service of the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce ("the Chamber," "we," or "us"). This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Sign-in. Writing a review or setting an event alert requires signing in with a secure one-time email link — no password. We receive the email address you sign in with.
Event submissions. When you submit a community event, we collect the event details plus your name and email address, so we can reach you if we have questions before approving it.
Event alerts. If you set up an alert, we store the category and/or keyword you chose, tied to your signed-in account, so we know what to email you about.
Newsletter. If you subscribe to the weekly digest, we collect your email address and pass it to our newsletter provider, Beehiiv.
Reviews. Reviews you submit (parks, trails, and events) are held for staff review before anything is published — we store your display name, rating, and review text.
Featured event payments. If you pay to feature a community event, payment is processed by Stripe. The Chamber does not store your full card number.
Page views. We record anonymous, aggregate counts of which pages get visited and in which language — no cookies, no visitor ID, and no IP address is ever stored. See "Analytics" below.

How we use your information

To review and publish community event submissions and reviews.
To send event alerts and the weekly newsletter you asked to receive.
To process a featured-event payment.
To operate, maintain, and improve this website.

Analytics

We use a first-party page-view counter we built ourselves — not Google Analytics or any other third-party tracker. It records only the page path and language, in aggregate. We never store a visitor ID, a cookie, or an IP address, so there is nothing here that identifies you personally.

Translation tool

The language switcher in the footer for languages other than English and Spanish uses Google's translation widget. When you use it, the page content is sent to Google for translation — see Google's own privacy policy for how they handle that. English and Spanish content on this site is translated by us directly and never touches Google's service.

Service providers we share data with

We share information only with vendors that help us operate MyPittsburgCA, and only as needed: Supabase (secure data hosting and sign-in), Stripe (payment processing), Beehiiv (newsletter delivery), and Google (the optional translation widget, and no other purpose). We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in when you write a review or set an event alert. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites or to sell your data.

Text messaging (SMS)

If you opt in to receive text messages from us — for example, event alerts — we collect your mobile phone number and a record of your consent, including when and how you opted in. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the categories of information described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; that information is never shared with any third party for any purpose. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by contacting us at chamber@mypittsburgchamber.org. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies.

Artificial intelligence

We use AI tools, including an internal system we call Daedalus, to help draft some of the content on this website — for example, plain-language summaries of City Council meetings, or resident-facing content — and to assist Chamber staff. AI-assisted content is reviewed by Chamber staff before publication. We do not use your personal information to train third-party AI models, and we do not send sensitive personal information (such as payment details) to any AI tool.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.
You can delete your own event alert subscriptions any time from the Alerts page.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing us at chamber@mypittsburgchamber.org.

Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard the data you entrust to us.

Children's privacy

This website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above.
